PUTING BELIUNG ATAU TORNADO

Puting beliung istilah di Indonesia sedangkan Tornado istilah di Amerika Serikat adalah merupakan penomena alam yang sangat merusak apabila menerjang suatu daerah baik di daratan maupun di lautan. Di daratan dapat menumbangkan pohon roboh, rumah rusak porak poranda, sedangkan di lautan menyebabkan gelombang laut tinggi yang dapat menyebabkan kecelakaan kapal.
Puting beliung disebabkan adanya beberapa awan Cumulonimbus (CB) yang secara bersamaan angin yang ditimbulkan pada saat down draft kemudian up draft menyebabkan angin berputar kencang sekali kelihatan seperti ekor, sehingga apabila angin berputar-putar tersebut menyentuh permukaan bumi, yang ada di daerah tersebut akan terangkat keatas.
Kata kunci : Tornado, Nahkoda dan kecelakaan kapal.
